Acceptable Use Policy

This English text is a translation provided for convenience. The legally binding document is the Russian version; if the two differ, the Russian version prevails.
Rights to the song
A song is protected by several rights at once: copyright in the music and lyrics, the performer's related right in the performance, and the producer's related right in the phonogram. Converting the vocal is an adaptation, and adapting a work or a phonogram, like reproducing a performance, is allowed only with the rightsholders' consent (Articles 1270, 1317 and 1324 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, "the Civil Code"). A performer also has the right to the integrity of the performance (Article 1315 of the Civil Code).
For every job you must be the rightsholder or have the rightsholders' permission to the extent needed both for processing the recording and for what you intend to do with the result. Having a copy of a recording (a purchase, a subscription, a download) is not such permission.
Consent to use a voice
The voice in the sample must be your own or belong to a person who has consented to this use. We recommend getting consent in writing and keeping it: we may ask for confirmation when considering a complaint.
Using a person's voice without their consent may infringe their rights and legitimate interests, so the service requires consent in all cases, whether or not the person is known to the public. If the voice belongs to a minor or to a person without legal capacity, the consent of their legal representative is needed. The voice of a person who has died may be used on the service only with the consent of their close relatives (children, the surviving spouse or, if there are none, parents).
By uploading a recording of another person's voice you instruct us to process it and confirm that you have a lawful basis for doing so.
What is not allowed
- Creating recordings that impersonate a real person without their consent — that make it seem they sang or said something they did not.
- Using the service for fraud, extortion, or obtaining money, data or access by deception, including to get round voice identification and authentication.
- Using the result to harass, intimidate or humiliate a person, or to spread defamatory or knowingly false information about them.
- Creating sexual material with a real person's voice without their consent, and any such material involving minors.
- Misleading an audience about the origin of a recording where that can harm people or society.
- Uploading material you have no right to use, or material protected by technical protection measures you are not entitled to circumvent.
- Using the service to create or distribute information whose distribution is prohibited by the law of the Russian Federation.
- Interfering with the service: getting round restrictions and limits (including the limit on the free demo), guessing other people's passwords and keys, creating excessive load, trying to access other people's data.
- Breaking the law or the rights of third parties in any other way.
Your responsibility for the result and its labelling
You decide what to do with the result, and you are responsible for it. When you publish it, tell your audience that the voice was converted by algorithms where the law or a platform's rules require it, and where staying silent could mislead listeners.
If you build the API into your own product, bring this Policy to your users' attention and make sure they follow it.
How we enforce this Policy
The service works automatically. We do not keep audio, do not listen to it and do not check it in advance, so we learn of violations mainly from reports.
On receiving well-founded information about a violation we may: ask the user for explanations and documents confirming their rights or consent; suspend the start of new jobs in the account; where the violation is confirmed or repeated, stop providing services to that user and refund the unused balance; pass information to public authorities in the cases provided by law.
Complaints and how we handle them
If you believe the service was used to infringe your copyright or related rights, or to use your voice without consent, send us a notice by email at s1ckasfukml@gmail.com or on Telegram at @conv_support.
So that we can consider the notice on its merits, include:
- who you are: your full name or the name of the organisation, and contact details; if you act as a representative, a document confirming your authority;
- what was infringed: the work, performance, phonogram or voice concerned, and what your rights are based on;
- what the violation is and where you found the recording (a link to the web page, if it was published), and anything that connects it to our service and to a particular user;
- confirmation that you did not give permission or consent for this use.
We consider a notice without undue delay and report the outcome to the contacts given in it. If the notice lacks information, we will ask you to supply it. The information about yourself that you give in a notice is used only to consider it.
It is important to understand the limits of what we can do. Uploaded files are deleted when the job ends, and the result 5 minutes after that; we do not make recordings publicly available and cannot delete copies a user has already downloaded or published elsewhere. Accounts are created with a nickname and are not linked to a person: we do not know who our user is and cannot tell you anything about them beyond the nickname. What we can do is suspend or close the account the violation was committed from and delete any files that are still being processed or are still in our storage at that moment. To have a recording removed from another platform, contact its owner or a court.
The user the notice concerns may provide evidence that the use was lawful — a contract, a licence, written consent. The start of new jobs may be suspended until that evidence has been considered.
